Self-assembled luminescent Cu(<scp>i</scp>) tetranuclear metallacycles based on 3,3?-bipyridine ligands

چکیده
Three luminescent tetranuclear macrocycles are obtained selectively, applying coordination-driven supramolecular processes to the reaction of 3,3?-bipyridine ligand with in situ formed Cu(i) bimetallic units bearing a coordination angle ca. 120°.

Self-assembled coordination cages based on banana-shaped ligands.
The combination of pyridyl ligands and square-planar Pd(ii) or Pt(ii) cations has proven to be a very reliable recipe for the realization of supramolecular self-assemblies. This tutorial review deals with the design, synthesis and host-guest chemistry of discrete coordination cages built according to this strategy. The focus is set on structures obeying the formula [PdnL2n] (n = 2-4). The most ...
متن کاملSelf-assembled multivalent carbohydrate ligands.
Materials that display multiple carbohydrate residues have gained much attention due to their potential to inhibit or modulate biological multivalent interactions. These materials can be grouped accordingly to the way they are prepared, as unimolecular or as self-assembled systems. Both systems take advantage of the fact that multivalent interactions have significantly higher binding affinity t...
متن کاملLuminescent lanthanide helicates self-assembled from ditopic ligands bearing phosphonic acid or phosphoester units.
A series of hexadentate ditopic receptors incorporating benzimidazole moieties have been designed, which are fitted with phosphonic acid or phosphoethylester coordinating units. In addition, poly(oxyethylene) pendants have been introduced on the benzimidazole backbone of two ligands to increase water solubility. The ligands self-assemble with lanthanide ions under stoichiometric conditions, yie...
متن کاملUsing ancillary ligands to tune the DNA binding properties of self-assembled luminescent metallomacrocycles.
The optical response, binding parameters, and duplex DNA binding mode of water-soluble kinetically inert tetranuclear metallomacrocycles can all be controlled by judicious selection of ancillary ligands.
متن کاملSelf-assembled infrared-luminescent Er–Si–O crystallites on silicon
Optically active and electrically excitable erbium complexes on silicon are made by wet-chemical synthesis. The single-crystalline Er–Si–O compound is formed by coating a Si(100) substrate with an ErCl3/ethanol solution, followed by rapid thermal oxidation and annealing. Room-temperature Er-related 1.53 mm photoluminescence is observed with a peak linewidth as small as 4 meV. The complexes can ...
